goes on
From May 2023, we met regularly to speak about our work. All of us are artists interested in working with sound. It is a very informal space. We often have some snacks and a warm drink and sit on couches. We speak about our ideas, share our thoughts, and listen to others. Sometimes new thoughts form in such a meeting, and sometimes old ideas get overthrown. It is through the company of others and their thoughts and sounds that ideas evolve, form, and usually get better. Working with sound has also taught me that. Sound has a relational quality. It creates relationships between you and others. Influences by and reactions to our surroundings are inevitable. We determine one another.
This is also the case in the three works you can experience on Saturday, 14th of December at 19h at Kolbhalle in Cologne. Although in different ways, all three works rely on the people around: to improvise, to form a score, and to discover. It goes on.

Maintaining Table (ver. W) by Duhyoung Kim
moderated improvisation with the audience
This is basically our improvisation. Let’s think loudly about where our tables are and how to maintain it.

Flying Whispers by Jiyun Park
participatory voice performance
For a split second, as a microphone is passed by, a vocal narration is fragmented, and it is randomly delivered. They start to remap various contexts based on the audience. The remnants of unamplified voices are flying around the space.

Cornering by Jeesoo Hong
A walk towards quiet corners in an audible architecture.
In Cornering, I aim to draw attention to corners, perceiving them as spaces of heavy silence. Audiences can explore three distinct corners, which serve as the main landmarks of this indoor walk. Corners—where two walls and the floor meet—are envisioned as silent zones shaped by the constraints of movement and the pathways of temporary occupants. As people approach a corner, the noises generated by their movements—footsteps, the rustle of clothing, whispers, or the sound of air displaced by their bodies—gradually diminish.
